Unspoilt nature and endless silence

Nature in Jokkmokk municipality is widespread, magnificent, rich in contrasts and largely untouched. Fresh air, clean water and untouched nature are self-evident conditions of life in Jokkmokk. Those of us who live here take it for granted, while others are surprised that you can drink the water straight out of the streams, cold springs and mountain lakes. We have come to realise that this is a rare luxury that should be safeguarded. Jokkmokk offers nature experiences that change in character according to the seasons. The large national parks Sarek, Padjelanta, Stora Sjöfallet and Muddus as well as a large number of nature reserves together form the World Heritage Site Laponia, an enormous wilderness area with much to explore. Hiking and touring trails, as well as simple overnight huts and more comfortable accommodation make it easy to explore the fantastic nature and mountain landscape with or without a tour leader. You decide yourself how much of an adventure it will be. If you decide to accompany an experienced guide you will definitely get more out of your stay. A long hike in the forests between the river valleys where berries are plentiful, with a coffee pot and a bit of dried reindeer meat in the rucksack is something we would recommend. It is hard to describe the pleasure of hiking in the summer when the vegetation is bursting into life and the Midnight Sun is shining day and night until the end of July, or in September after the intensive and often warm summer, when autumn colours the vegetation in red and gold and the mountains are on fire. We will leave the major discoveries to you. Pack your rucksack, the experience is yours.
