Appetizers!
Cloudberries and milk, smoked reindeer meat, and the combined smell of dewy blueberries and freshly cut grass may greet you when you arrive in Vilhelmina. Situated between two lakes, perched on a hill in an undulating landscape, this is one of the queens of Lapland and she is waiting to invite you to dinner. A walk here may involve finding horseshoes that bring you luck, a picnic in the park, a visit to some of our craftspeople, a historic journey up in the church town and a nostalgia trip to our excellent
general store.
Ready for adventure and new experiences you continue your way towards one of our two beautiful mountain valleys. The male water-sprite in the stream gives you a taste of the fairytale adventures that lie in store along the two roads leading up to the mountains. The wilderness road takes you to the wilderness – to the reindeer and the Sami’s old meeting place Fatmomakke, which is one of the places you must not miss when you visit here. If you decide to take the Sagavägen (fairytale) road, allow yourself to
become enchanted. Go exploring on your own, or allow one of our guides to take you on a mountain trip, a fishing adventure, a helicopter trip or a family safari along one
of our waterways. Everyone’s taste is different and the choice is yours. We just want to tempt you!!

Sami Doudji
If you are interested in a close encounter with Sami culture and Sami craft, Risfjells Sameslöjd in Vilhelmina is the obvious place to visit. Here you will meet Sami/Duodji craftsman Sven-Åke and Doris Risfjell in their gallery, shop and Sami museum. Old Sami utensils and tools such as old sledges, the Wilk couple’s carpentry creations, the world’s largest Sami knife and homemade drums, knives, bracelets and bags are some of the many things you will see. If you want, Doris and Sven-Åke are at hand to act as guides and share their knowledge of Sami history and culture. After this experience you will be ready to meet more of the wilderness that awaits you..

Recreation
The best way to relax tends to be to do something completely different than what you are used to. Sune Andersson has 18 years experience of working as a stuntman and knows exactly where to draw the line, and he is on hand to help you have an experience that is out of the ordinary. SA Event offers you and your friends the opportunity to explore the area around Vilhelmina by quad bike. If you dare, you can follow him to his adventure camp or take a shorter tour just outside the town. The tour is adapted to suit the group. This is an event that is sure to boost your energy levels for the rest of your journey.

Did you know...
… in February anyone with a cool head can challenge themselves and others by sitting still on an ice pillar in Vilhelmina for a couple of days and bitterly cold nights. Cool.
… Vilhelmina has one of the greatest densities of archaeological relics in Sweden, with more than 2,000 registered relics marked on the map!

Don't miss:

Is it the calm of a fishing lake, where the fish lurk just below the surface? Or a hike in the mountains, where the water tastes best out of a kåsa drinking vessel when you’re hot from walking? Is it the light that is as bright at night as in the daytime? Is it the people, the stillness or simply the magnificent view that brings you here? We’ve got it all!
