Storuman is a meeting point in Lapland. The municipality covers approx 7,500 square kilometres and extends all the way to the Norwegian border. To the west there are the mountain villages of Tärnaby and Hemavan, home of our alpine skiing stars. Storuman has a good range of shops and other services. Adventures in the mountains, forest and on the water are easily accessible from here and there are many fine hiking trails and fishing waters nearby. We look forward to welcoming you.

Experience Lapland
Take a short walk or a long hike along one of our superb trails. Some trails are close by and some a little bit further away. Stop for a while to enjoy the silence of the forest and the views of lakes and mountains. Appreciate the scents and light. Take the time you need to savour the experience. There are numerous places to go fishing, some of which are very local. The tourist information office will be happy to advise you about hiking trails and fishing.

Water is life
The Luspholmarna islands are a group of islands delightfully situated in Lake Storuman with an open-air museum, bathing beaches and rambling trails. The view of the islands set in the lake with the mountains in the background is best from “Utsikten”, a few kilometres from the railway station. There is child-friendly swimming in the centre of Storuman and an inviting campsite. Play boules by the lake or go bowling in the leisure centre Aktivitetshuset near the square.

In and by the railway station
During the summer months, local artists and craft artisans display and sell their work in the station at Storuman. The building is also home to a small motor museum. The old railway hotel – now the library – is on the way to the square and has beautiful wall and ceiling paintings that are definitely worth seeing.

Did you know that ...
… the first settler arrived in the village of Luspen, now the central town in Storuman municipality,
