Inlandsbanan AB is owned by 15 local authorities that line the Inlandsbanan route. It has signed an agreement with the Swedish government, which has entrusted the management of the Inlandsbanan railway track between Mora and Gällivare into the company’s care. In addition to the track, the company also owns its own rail depot and workshop in Östersund, as well as a range of vehicles needed for its transport operations. The local authority owners are keen to see Inlandsbanan AB take positive action in the development of goods and passenger transport in the country’s inland areas, which in turn will facilitate development in these areas. With the historic Inlandsbanan rail track as it backbone, Inlandsbanan AB has set up a subsidiary, Inlandsbanan Turism AB, for the production, marketing and selling of Inlandsbanan’s travel services. Inlandsbanan Turism acts as the marketing channel for this new activity, the aim being to reach customers in Sweden and abroad, as well as foreign tour operators.

Inlandsbanan Turism AB
Inlandsbanan Turism main purpose is to market and sell travel and services in the areas surrounding the Inlandsbanan railway. The company sells its services direct from its own booking office and via a web-based booking system, and indirectly by way of tours marketed by international travel organisations. The company’s core operations involve travel services on Inlandsbanan, comprising marketing/sales of tickets, Inlandsbanan cards and package tours. Inlandsbanan Turism‘s main aim is to link service providers along Inlandsbanan with its own services. However, the company also intends to sell travel services combining rail, accommodation and activities independently of its Inlandsbanan operations. Inlandsbanan Turism and Inlandsbanan AB aspire to create a concept linked with northern Scandinavia. There is a mythical, almost mystical quality to nature here, while the Nordic fauna - exotic even for Swedish visitors - has an almost tangible presence in the area. This, combined with the welcoming atmosphere prevailing here, makes each journey a very individual experience.
